One of this typical "international" months has passed by.We got new order form Australian high tec university for LASCON controller, delivered to Italian company LASCON controller for laser soldering, got a new order for a complete laser system from Portugiese high tec university, delivered a blackbody calibrator to Mexico and other deliveries to Austria, Swiss, Thailand and, of course, also Germany.

Why do we make work fun?
The CTO of an American global corporation has asked us to conduct an evaluation of a laser soldering process. He sends us his samples and we present him the next day by video the laser soldering results. Previously, the samples were sent to 10 other companies and conducted thorough tests in Asia - with negative results. The CTO's comment on the results of Mergenthaler, 24 hours after the delivery of samples:

There is not much to say other that I am simply blown away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .... I didn’t expect that this would go this easy

A more then 2 year research project of laser soldering of photovoltaic ( pv Modules ) modules has been closed sucessfully. Due to the results of this research project, the innovational strength of our company has been enforced. A innovative german enterprise has quailfied the unique LASCON measurement and control system for laser cladding on small structures and has placed an order .

Due to a strong order intake during the first two quarters of 2011 and corresponding favorable outlook for the coming two quarters, the outlook for the full year is optimistic.

German special engineering company continues the 10 year cooperation with Mergenthaler and receives new laser systems for laser plastic welding of POF ( polymer optical fibers ) .

We celebrate 20 years Dr.Mergenthaler laser technology. Founded in 1991 as a 1 man shop by Dr.Mergenthaler, the company has developed to a competitive laser company with a sales volume of aprox 1.2 mio USD in 2010.

Major supplier of semiconductor industry ordered his 8th and 9th laser together with unique process controller LASCON for laser soldering.

Leading german special engineering company decided for LASCON to supervise and control the laser soldering of strings on photovoltaic( pv ) modules . British medical technology company ordered second laser work station from Mergenthaler for laser plastic welding. Swedish company started evaluation of LASCON for laser cladding.

New solder wire feeder developed and taken into operation. After tests and experience with competitors solder wire feeder, Mergenthaler developed a high precision solder wire feeder.

The new solder wire feeder has a very short reaction time of better then 10ms, ultra high resolution of 0.02mm, gearless motor without backlash, small size, detection of end of solder wire, very attractive price.

Leading german research institute got second laser heater system from Mergenthaler.

Conversion of our new facility in Lilienthalstrasse 14, 89231 Neu Ulm allmost completed. Complete new heating system, new electricity, new floors and new room arrangement. The removal is planned to be in march 2011.

2 large measurement installations ( Thermoproof and Thermotube ) delivered to Thailand .

New serie of blackbody calibrators has been developed and taken into operation. After we have intensively tested various blackbody cailbrators of competitors, we decided to develope an own serie. Compared to the competitors, we have much lower settling time and temperature stability. The highest blackbody temperature is 1100°C ( 2012F )

Dutch system integrator gains major contract for several automation soldering lines and ordered LASCON systems to control the whole production.

Mergenthaler GmbH&Co.KG acquires new facility with 400 sqm production floor on 1500 sqm ground. The building can be expanded tor another 600sqm. Thus Mergenthaler follows the demand of the customers to expand capacity.

Successfull final acceptance of thai laser soldering machine. A group of thai specialists tested the soldering machine in Ulm under strict criteria for quality and faults and gave clearence for shipment. Thus, the course is set to further contracts with this customer.

In the year of financial crises, Mergenthaler bucks the trend and rises sales volume singificant.

As further trend,international business becomes more and more important. Over 40% of sales volume is now to asian and us market.

Dutch machine builder decides for Mergenthaler laser kit with 250W diode laser and LASCON controller for production of string soldering connection on pv modules.

After intensive investigations Mergenthaler got purchase order for a new laser soldering machine from thai producer of microelectronic parts. Mergenthaler won this contract against Shanghai competitor. The contract has a potential for up to 20 systems.

Marcet leader in photothermal material investigations uses high power laser series LM250 with max. laser power of 350W for thermal excitation of samples.

Laserwork station LWS 100 delivered to a major automotive supplier for cable assembly.A worldwide serving specialist for automation has decided for LASCON to control soldering processes on solar panels.Leading italian enterprise uses LASCON in series for laser soldering.

New, ultra precision blackbody calibration unit has been taken into operation. We can now calibrate our infrared pyrometers up to 1200°C.

Laser work station LWS100 delivered to automotive-Tier1-customer in germany for laser plastic welding and laser soldering. The process development, optimization and pre production has been executed in our laser lab.
